Happiness of Giving XIV

Thanks to the combined efforts and generosity of all who supported it, our 14th annual “Happiness of Giving” holiday food drive to benefit needy families was a tremendous success.

Approximately forty-five chapter members and friends, along with 15 students and advisors from Community Service Foundation/ Buxmont Academy in Pipersville, Pa., delivered food boxes and Giant Food Stores gift cards to 300 needy families. Each food box was filled with a turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, vegetables, and other goodies necessary for a delicious and nutritious Christmas dinner. Distribution was completed on a brisk and beautiful Saturday, December 12th to local families and to community-based organizations such as The Missionary Sisters of Charity and the Salvation Army, both in Norristown, Mountain Laurel Ministries and the Salvation Army, both in Boyertown, and Community Housing Services, Inc., which aids battered families in the five county region.

Over the years, our holiday food drive has been able to provide over 3,071 food-filled boxes to families during a season that should be filled with peace, hope, and joy. The success of this endeavor continues to be made possible by the ongoing generosity and assistance of many who truly believe in this simple expression of humanitarian caring and community betterment.

I am thankful to so many for such a successful outcome. My sincere apologies to anyone I forget to mention. My deepest appreciation goes out to: the officers and membership of our H.O.G. chapter for your enthusiastic support and belief in this cause; to the Poker Run Staff and everyone who participated in that event; Evey Isabella, Scott McDevitt, President, and all of the kind employees at Translogistics, Inc. in Royersford; Jules Banyai, Howard Long, and UPS Freight for their ongoing assistance in this effort; and to the many generous donors who wished to remain anonymous. Thanks also to Harry Brewick and the crew at Community Service Foundation/Buxmont Academy; Steve Coffey, Chris Nero, and Giant Food Stores on Trooper Road and Carlisle, Pa.; Jim Foley and Iron Mountain Records Management; John and Chris D’Arcy and the staff at Valley Forge Harley-Davidson, Inc., and to everyone who donated or participated in whatever way they could. It’s because of you, 300 needy families, although faced with the reality of tough times, were able to celebrate, as a family, the joy of the Christmas Season and hold on to hope for a brighter tomorrow.

May the New Year bring you all peace, good health, and much happiness.

Thank you.
